What is Youth Discover the Trades Day?

Each year we provide 120 students from grade 7 the opportunity to focus on careers in the trades! Students rotate through three of four trades stations including welding, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical/millwright. Stations are facilitated by apprentices/trainees, trades instructors, and trade specific journey persons. Each activity provides students with the opportunity to learn more about a specific trade and leave with projects created in their respective workshops. Students will have an engaging, hands-on experience applying skills used in a variety of trade occupations while making connections with tradespersons in their communities.
