Columneetza Junior Secondary

On Tuesday January 6th, we held three consecutive grade group assemblies focused on re-establishing schoolwide expectations for positive culture, collective and individual responsibilities, and expected conduct as indicated by the Columneetza Code of Conduct. After extended breaks like summer break, winter break and spring break, these assemblies help gather our community together to reset and recalibrate for the next session of classes. The kids don't forget because they are being defiant. They forget because they’re kids.

So we reteach expectations. Schoolwide. On purpose.

About 95% of students will follow expectations — when they’re clear, consistent, and (recently) taught. That last part matters. The other 5%? They’ll still need extra support. That’s always true. Bringing students into the why behind the rules — not just the rules themselves, helps students take ownership of our shared expectations.

We are excited for learning opportunities yet to come this winter at Columneetza!
