High School Students Jumpstart Their Careers
Grade 12 students in CCSD27 can jump-start their trades career through the Thompson Rivers University Dual Credit Program! This unique opportunity lets students earn both high school graduation credits and post-secondary credits while completing a foundation year in one of four trades: Residential Carpentry, Heavy Duty Technician, Welding, or Residential Electrical. Tuition is covered through partnerships, with students only responsible for fees, books, and tools. Seats are competitive, so interested students should connect with their school’s Career Education Department early—typically in Grade 10—to begin the application process.
“Career Development is one of the three goals of education from kindergarten to grade 12.”
The Career Education of the Cariboo Chilcotin School District supports students in elementary through secondary school in identifying and developing their personal interests, passions, and abilities through experiential learning, community connections, and reflections in advancing career—life development. We offer a wide range of programs and resources in Career Education that prepare students in the attainment of their career and occupational objectives.
Through partnerships with employers, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations, the district is able to offer a variety of learning opportunities.
