Sharing the Light in CCSD

This year we will carry the idea of Sharing the Light through our first days of the school year and through the seasons with author Monique Gray Smith. Monique is an author and speaker who radiates gratitude, love, joy, happiness and hope. All things we each need and our system needs.

Monique’s teachings have helped shape our district with her books and presentations. Telling Our Truth provided learning for all staff on Truth & Reconciliation, I Hope was gifted to all staff a few years ago, the adaptation of Braiding Sweetgrass for youth is in our schools, and Circle of Love was shared through a virtual author's visit for students. Monique previously came to Cariboo-Chilcotin School district for a special Gathering of Hope at the WLFN Arbor.

She has written a new book, Sharing the Light, that invites us to bring our own gifts and light into every aspect of our lives and share it with others. It illuminates the path for each of us to find meaning and satisfaction in what we do and for what we do to make a difference for others.
Filled with stories, memories, reflections, and inspirations Sharing the Light is a perfect guide for thriving in the coming school year.
Staff will be invited to participate in a series with both virtual and in-person events, with Monique to explore the themes of Sharing the Light. We look forward to doing this learning and reflecting together.
