Marie Sharpe Elementary
At Marie Sharpe Elementary, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, respected, and included.
For our 2026–2027 Truth and Reconciliation mural, every student traced their hand and reflected on the question, “What can you do to make school a place where every child matters?”
Their responses were thoughtful and meaningful. From showing kindness and including others to listening, helping, and standing up for one another, our students shared the many ways they can help make our school a place where everyone feels they belong.
Together, their hands created a beautiful mural surrounding the message “Every Child Matters.” Each hand represents an individual student and their personal commitment to making our school a welcoming and inclusive place for all.
As we continue our learning about Truth and Reconciliation, this mural serves as a reminder that Every Child Matters is more than a message we recognize on Orange Shirt Day. It is a commitment we must carry with us every day through our words, actions, and the way we treat one another.
We are so proud of our Marie Sharpe Sharks for helping create this meaningful reminder that reconciliation, respect, and belonging are responsibilities we all share!
