The Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy (CCPL) is completing its fourth year of the Just-in-Time Tutoring (JITT) Service for Children and Youth. Our roster of experienced tutors continues to grow, and every year new students are accessing the program. We offer three tutoring sessions annually: fall, winter, and spring. In Williams Lake, we provide after-school tutoring at Chilcotin Road Elementary, Nesika Elementary, the CCPL office on Second Avenue, and for the first time, at Horsefly Elementary-Junior Secondary.
Support from school sites and the district is essential in keeping the program affordable and accessible for families. The JITT program has helped us secure funding from TNG and Civil Forfeiture to offer homework drop-in support for middle and secondary students at their schools.
We appreciate the School District's financial and in-kind support of these programs. It’s critical in our efforts to provide the Just-In-Time Tutoring service and make it available to all families regardless of their financial situation. The space schools provide for all levels of the tutoring service is comfortable and familiar for students and families and helps make it more accessible for those who choose to participate.
