Horsefly Elementary was one of several schools in the district that participated in a pilot program this year aimed at strengthening kindergarten transitions. Through the Changing Results for Young Children initiative, which focuses on supporting children's social and emotional well-being, we adapted our approach to better support students entering kindergarten in 2026.
We provided the opportunity for participating schools to have their kindergarten teacher join the StrongStart program to observe the future kindergarten children, interact with families, and interact with the children over the course of 3 visits prior to the schools Welcome to Kindergarten event.
Feed back from families has been filled with gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the teacher within the comfort of the familiar StrongStart setting.
