100 Mile Elementary

This May, our school hosted its very first Family Drum-Making Evening. Families came together for an evening event to create hand drums, learn new skills, and strengthen connections within our school community.

This experience supported the BC Curriculum by fostering the Core Competencies of Communication, Creative Thinking, and Personal and Social Responsibility. Students and families worked collaboratively, solved problems during the drum-making process, and demonstrated patience and respect while learning together.

The evening also provided an opportunity to learn gave for a meal and learn about the cultural significance of drums. Most importantly, it brought families, students, and staff together in a meaningful shared experience. Special Thanks to Penny Reid, our ISW, and knowledge keepers Kalei and Lyndsay Dixon!
