Tatla Lake Elementary/Junior
Today, our school welcomed Nenqayni Wellness Society as part of the school-wide cultural learning outlined in our Indigenous Cultural Implementation Plan.
Students had the opportunity to make mini drums and medicine bags while learning through hands-on cultural experiences. While the creations were meaningful, the most important part of the day was the opportunity to build relationships, listen, learn, and foster Indigenous knowledge.
Our goal is to create a year where Indigenous perspectives, teachings, and cultural learning are a regular and meaningful part of our practice and pedagogy. We hope to create an environment where all students benefit from the knowledge, teachings, and relationships shared with us by our community partners, Elders, and knowledge keepers.
