150 Mile Elementary
Julie Knevel once again facilitated a full-day workshop, providing a crash course in selecting appropriate assessment tools and designing systematic literacy instruction. Julie worked with 15 teachers, including five from 150 Mile, introducing a scope and sequence for explicit phonics instruction and examining several popular programs and resources used across Tiers 1, 2, and 3. Breakout groups discussed common challenges and received troubleshooting support from the facilitator. This workshop was targeted toward early-career teachers seeking to adopt science-aligned practices, upper elementary teachers who recognize that weak decoding skills can impede comprehension, and any teacher interested in shifting toward Structured Literacy interventions.
