Tatla Lake Elementary/Junior
Tatla Lake staff began the school year with a District Learning Day focused on Indigenous Learning & Culture and our collective responsibility for reconciliation.
The day opened with a welcome to the Secwépemc, Tsilhqot’in, and Dakelh territories, followed by greetings from district organizations. A key part of the morning was the keynote presentation by Niigaan Sinclair, Presence, Practice, Pedagogy, and Permanence: How Do We Assess Reconciliation in Schools? The presentation provided an opportunity for staff to reflect on what reconciliation looks like in practice and to consider how we can move beyond intention toward meaningful, sustained action in our schools.
Staff then gathered to reflect on the learning and connect it to our work for the year ahead. As a school located in Tsilhqot’in territory, we recognize that Indigenous learning and reconciliation are ongoing commitments. We look forward to building our knowledge, strengthening relationships, and meaningfully incorporating Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and ways of knowing into our learning environments.
