Outside & In

Mrs. Merth is building routines with her new Kindergarten students that involve time outside. Students followed her lead and sat in a circle, where they started their outdoor learning with a volcano breath. After listening to the students' ideas about what they noticed in their surroundings (leaves on the ground, cooler temperatures, fewer insects), she told them about an indoor play space she was setting up. Students spent a few minutes collecting leaves from the ground for a fall-themed table in their classroom. Once the table was set up, Mrs. Merth connected that learning to some early literacy skills. Students are using the gathered materials to build dens for toy animals, just like in the story they shared.
