Tatla Lake Elementary/Junior

Orange Shirt Day provided an opportunity for our students to learn about the history and significance of the day, and to deepen their understanding of reconciliation.

Students watched videos about the origins of Orange Shirt Day and the experiences of residential school survivors. We also read Shi-shi-etko by Nicola I. Campbell, exploring the story through accompanying activities and discussions.

Through stories, learning, and reflection, students were encouraged to think about the importance of remembering the past, listening to Indigenous voices, and considering how we can contribute to reconciliation in our school and community.
