Tatla Lake Elementary/Junior
Our students recently took part in a hands-on bike workshop with Mary Forbes of the Cariboo Conservation Society. Rather than simply learning how to fix a bike, students became investigators, taking bikes and their components apart to discover how they work.
As students disassembled the bikes, they explored the purpose and function of different parts, developed problem-solving skills, and learned through reverse engineering. Components that could no longer be used were sorted for recycling and parts were identified for reuse, adding an important sustainability connection to the experience.
We are grateful to Mary and the Cariboo Conservation Society for creating an engaging ADST learning experience where students could explore how things work and apply their problem-solving skills.
