Chilcotin Road Elementary
Today, students and staff at Chilcotin Road Elementary came together to recognize Orange Shirt Day through meaningful learning and reflection. Our intermediate students had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Williams Lake First Nation Arbor, where they participated in engaging learning experiences and drumming activities that deepened their understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and perspectives.
Meanwhile, our primary students spent the day rotating through a variety of classrooms, with each teacher leading a unique activity focused on the importance of Truth and Reconciliation. Throughout the school, students demonstrated curiosity, respect, and thoughtful engagement as they learned about the lasting impacts of residential schools and the importance of building a more inclusive future. It was inspiring to see so much meaningful learning taking place as we continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
