Personal Counselling

Many students access the counselling offices to speak to someone regarding an issue of a more personal nature. The counselors provide a confidential atmosphere in which students can explore any topic or situation and discuss any concerns they may have. Students are helped to work through their problems and to develop more of a self awareness.

If students wish to see someone who is more specialized regarding their specific therapy needs, the counselors are able to refer to the agencies within the community.  These include:

Addictions Services, Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre, Child & Youth Mental Health, Interior Health

There are numerous concerns for which students seek counselling. Some of the concerns include: alcohol and drug problems, anger, anxiety, assertiveness, bereavement, body image, childhood physical, emotional or sexual abuse, depression, family problems, homesickness, identity, loneliness, loss of motivation, low self-esteem, mental health issues, pain, problems with food or body image, procrastination, relationship problems, sexual assault, sexuality, test anxiety and more.
