Chokecherry

Chokecherry is a perennial, deciduous, tree that can grow up to 30ft tall. It forms dense clusters of white flowers followed by red fruit which darkens to purple in the fall. This cold and shade tolerant plant grows well in a variety of soils including sandy, clay, or rich. Its flowers are attractive to butterflies and the tree itself provides shelter for many small mammals and birds. Birds also enjoy eating the berries.
