Kinnikinnick
Kinnikinnick is a perennial, evergreen, shrub with thick, leathery leaves. Its leaves changes colour from yellow-green in the spring, to dark green in the summer, and reddish-purple in the winter. It's pink-white, bell shaped, flowers become red berries that persist through the winter earning it its other common name, Red Bearberry. Its flowers attract both butterflies and hummingbirds while its berries are enjoyed by bears. Drought and cold resistant, it grows well in sandy or rocky soils.
