Grade 7 Outdoor Academy

Program Description

The Grade 7 Outdoor Academy is a program of choice students apply to attend.  The class spends one day per week off site at either Scout Island or other natural sites in the community.  Students are admitted based on student interest and dedication to the program, not grades.  In addition to being offsite on Wednesday, students go on a few field trips each year such as canoeing in the Spring and Snowshoeing or cross country skiing in Tatla Lake.  Students engage in citizen science projects, nature art and stewardship activities as part of their Grade 7 year.

How to Register

Students will have a counsellor from the high school visit their class with two students from the previous year to talk about the class.  There they will be given an application to fill out.  Students can also contact the counsellors at Columneetza if they missed the school visits.
