The Ministry of Education and Childcare (MOECC) brought a new Financial Planning and Reporting Policy into provincial legislation for July 1, 2021. The policy requires districts to have an Accumulated Surplus Operating Policy and a Financial Planning and Reporting policy.
These requirements stem from the provincial work on financial accountability and creating alignment with the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning.
SD27 had an Accumulated Surplus policy that required minor revisions to be fully compliant with the Ministry and the development of a new SD27 Policy Financial Planning and Reporting (FPAR) policy.
The Draft FPAR policy is being sent for public consultation until November 10, 2023.
