Many of us take reading for granted but the truth is, we must make learning to read and loving to read a part of everyday life if we want our children and our community to be a healthy, vibrant place in which to live.
Imagine a community that ensures all of its children begin life with the joy of family time, books and reading! School District No. 27 is working together with Cariboo-Chilcotin Partners for Literacy Society and other community groups to encourage family reading and to place books in the hands, homes, and hearts of all children through the Books for Babies and Bright Red Bookshelf programs. These programs recognize, celebrate, and support parents as their child’s first and most important teachers and encourage new parents to share books with their children from birth throughout the teen years.
