Current Contest:  Aboriginal Day Poetry Contest

Cariboo Chilcotin School District No. 27 is inviting ALL students  from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to enter a poetry writing contest.  This contest is open to ALL students from public schools, private schools and Band operated schools regardless of their ethnicity.

The poetry must be about the culture of First Nations, Inuit or Métis.  This will be a great opportunity for all students to learn about and research the First Nations, Inuit or Métis culture.

Entry deadline is Friday, March 3, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.

Judging will take place by a committee in April 2017.  The winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

Poems must be titled, typed or neatly written, single or double line spacing.

All entries must be the original work of the student entering the contest.

Students may submit multiple entries.

Winners must agree to have a photograph taken of themselves for publication purposes.

Teachers with students who have a winning poem will receive a prize of First Nations content story books for their classroom.

Entering poetry into the contest constitutes the agreement that it will be allowed to be published on our website and/or print materials to be put into book form as Best Practices in Cariboo Chilcotin School District No. 27.
